[ntl] Errors compiling NTL in ia86

Hello,

Trying to compiling NTL library in a ia86 machine, I get plenty of errors of
the type:

/usr/include/c++/3.2.3/ia64-redhat-linux/bits/atomicity.h:41: syntax error
   before `)' token

all in the atomicity.h header.

I am not the superuser and I cannot modify the file.

Any suggestion please?
